Fads are an inescapable part of our lives. And with how quickly technology comes and goes in our rapidly-changing society, it’s easy to see how people can be dismissive of technology designed to make waves. But not everything that is new is a fad, and Caitlin Long is here today to flip the script and discuss why crypto isn’t going anywhere anytime soon! This week, episode 174 of the Tech Intersect™ Podcast is about the myth that crypto is a fad!

Caitlin Long is the Founder and CEO at Custodia Bank, a Wyoming bank formed to serve as a compliant bridge to the U.S. dollar payments system and a custodian of digital assets that can meet the strictest level of institutional custody standards. In 2018-20, she led the charge to make her native state of Wyoming an oasis for blockchain companies in the US, where she helped Wyoming enact 20 blockchain-enabling laws. Caitlin is a 22-year Wall Street veteran who has been active in bitcoin and blockchain since 2012.

Topics Caitlin Long and I go over in this episode include:

  • Copyright law in the United States does not take into account modern technologies.
  • Scams are unavoidable - they exist wherever there is an opportunity for significant gain.
  • How regulation evolves so law enforcement has the powers that they need to go after criminals across the globe.
  • The importance of creating legal frameworks to protect good actors in the space, consumers, and investors.
