Welcome to a special episode of the podcast which we’re calling the ‘holiday replay’. Steph and are taking a break for a couple of weeks while our kiddos are home holidays, so this week we-re airing one of our favourite episodes- How to tackle style diversity in your art brand’. So if you missed that one, be sure to listen in as this was one of our most popular episodes ever! And if you caught it the first time around, we think it’s definitely worth a second listen.

This week we’re talking about something that comes up often out there in the art world- which is the idea of having to stick with a particular style to establish yourself as an artist and a brand. Steph and I sat down and had a great conversation about the advantages and pitfalls of taking this approach when seeking direction for your art. I hope you enjoy the episode.

Some of this episodes key insights;

  • That it is possible to find threads of consistency in amongst a variety of stylistic directions in your work
  • Ways that I personally manage having diverse styles in my own art practice and in putting forward my brand.
  • How the history of art teaches us that it is indeed ‘part of the job’ for artists to venture through different stylistic periods in their work throughout their lifetime.
  • How the ‘Instagram grid’ mentality can keep us hemmed into a narrow perception of our stylistic output.

We'd love to hear from you about your own experience of navigating this ‘having a defined style’ road so please reach out!

Enjoy the episode!
