Favela Boys Apparel: Empowering Underserved Communities Through Fashion and STEM
Manage episode 456907854 series 3626731
Recently, I had the pleasure to talk with Endrow Metelus, the co-founder of Favela Boys Apparel. Favela Boys Apparel is an eco-friendly streetwear brand that donates 15% of profits to Esports STEM programs.
Andrew Matilas designs his clothing to convey the inner city's beauty by capturing the underserved communities' vision and perspective. He aims to challenge the negative stereotypes associated with the inner city and showcase its positive aspects. Using graphic tees, he tells a story and portrays the environment and mood of the inner city. He wants to change the conversation through his designs and highlight these communities' rich culture and history. Additionally, Andrew supports STEM education by donating some of his net profit to underserved communities in the US, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa. He believes that providing STEM education and skill sets to these communities can empower them and open opportunities for a better future.
