Sanjay Dhas knew that if he were blessed with a baby boy, he would name him after legendary India batter Sachin Tendulkar. He did name his son - Sachin. He probably had foreseen that Sachin Dhas would become a cricketer as well. Sachin remembers playing with only bat and ball, nothing else. He started playing cricket at four and played his first invitation match at six. Coming from a small village like Beed, he rose through the ranks of age-group cricket in Maharashtra. With his unmistakable talent, he was named in the India squad for the U-19 World Cup. India lost the World Cup final to Australia but Sachin was one of the standout performers of the tournament. संजय धस यांनी आपल्याला मुलगा झाला तर त्याचं नाव सचिन तेंडुलकरकरच्या नावावरुन 'सचिन' ठेवायचं हे ठरवून ठेवलं होतं. तो क्रिकेटपटू होईल हे देखील त्यांनी योजलं असावं. सचिन धसला फक्त बॅट-बॉल खेळल्याचंच आठवतं. वयाच्या चौथ्या वर्षी क्रिकेट खेळायला लागून सचिन सहाव्या वर्षी पहिल्यांदा 'निमंत्रित क्रिकेट' देखील खेळला होता. त्याच्या गुणवत्तेच्या जोरावर धावांचा रतीब घालत तो महाराष्ट्रासाठी विविध वयोगट स्पर्धांत खेळला. २०२४ मध्ये झालेल्या १९-वर्षाखालील विश्वचषकासाठी त्याला भारतीय संघात स्थान मिळालं. अंतिम सामन्यात भारताला ऑस्ट्रेलियाकडून पराभव स्वीकारावा लागला पण दक्षिण आफ्रिकेत झालेल्या स्पर्धेत सचिनने केलेल्या कामगिरीचं कौतुक झालं. बीडसारख्या छोट्या गावातलं आयुष्य आणि क्रिकेट कसं आहे? भारतासाठी खेळण्याची भावना काय असते? एका मोठ्या अंतिम सामन्यात हरल्यानंतर त्यातून सावरुन लगेचच सचिनने महाराष्ट्रासाठी रणजी ट्रॉफी पदार्पण कसं केलं? ह्या आणि अश्या अनेक विषयांवर मनमोकळेपणे बोलत सचिनने त्याचा क्रिकेटचा प्रवास उलगडला आहे अमोल गोखले बरोबर कट्ट्यावरच्या गप्पांमध्ये..
