Rick was born in March of 1972 in Portland, Oregon to God- fearing parents who had his 2 older sisters, Cindy and Mindy. Rick can remember growing up and having a wonderful childhood with a great community around him. His family was connected in one of the original foursquare church's that started in the area and they were there from the beginning group of around 20 people as they stayed and called it home and watched it grow over time. Rick was at church for Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings and can remember his older sisters going to "THE BARN" for youth group and Rick really remembers wanting to be a part of it but he was too young at the time. All in all it was a really tight knit community that Rick grew up in. Around the time he started kindergarten, Ricks teachers said he needed to get an eye exam and it was determined that rick needed to wear eye glasses, which in turn was very hard for a young kid to do. School was very hard for him and around the time of the 5th grade when they moved to Arizona for a year, it was extremely difficult for Rick with bullying and people picking on him. There were times when Rick had to run home from school so he didn't get messed with. Listen and be amazed at how a young man that had not the easiest of childhoods but a good one, to grow into a wonderful husband, father of an amazing kid, a man of influence as the ministry leader for celebrate recovery at RockPoint church, and so much more. I hope you listen to this story of triumph and you yourself are encouraged .
