If you are a comic and want to learn how to become a TV writer a MUST listen. Great stories about Larry David Roseanne George Clooney Ted Danson Jerry Seinfeld Steve Harvey Russell Brand and a lot more. In the 1980's, Mike, just a teenager, was a fixture in the New York stand up scene. performing at such notable clubs as The Improv, The Comedy Cellar, Caroline's and The Bottom Line. A highlight from these days include working with his hero, Andy Kaufman. He played the drums for Andy when he did his famous Elvis impression and he refereed some of his legendary wrestling matches. Early on Mike wrote one-liners for such comics as Rodney Dangerfield, Rip Taylor and Dennis Miller's Weekend Update. In the late 1980's he landed comedy writing jobs for sketch shows on MTV, A&E and Comedy Central. It wasn't long before Mike moved to Hollywood to start his career writing sitcoms. His first was on a show starring George Clooney. Since then he's worked non-stop on shows such as "Coach," "Becker" and "The Nanny." He also wrote on a few comedy variety series such as "The Martin Short Show," and "Late Night with Craig Ferguson." He's also written for the "The Comedy Central Roasts." It's been one of his favorite jobs and he continues to write them as of this date. Mike found the road to animation when he landed a job writing Eddie Murphy's sitcom, "PJ's." He's since been nominated for numerous writing awards including three Emmy's, and two Annie Awards (winning one) for his work on the animated series', "Family Guy" and "Futurama." In 2011 Mike finally received an Emmy for his work on Futurama as well as an EMA award.
