Wayne Kimmel's guest on the SeventySix Capital Sports Leadership Show, is David Beckerman, the Founder of the Starter Corporation, who built the international sports and lifestyle brand to $700 million in sales.

During episode 2 of this 2-part show, Beckerman discusses with Kimmel his coaching career, his mentors and what he sees in the future of the sports business industry.

Beckerman founded Starter in 1971 and was the mastermind of the convergence of the sports clothing industry with popular culture by developing partnerships with the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL and universities.

The Starter brand transformed sports culture into fan culture and then into pop culture and created the famous tagline “Wear what the Pros wear.”

Beckerman now serves as a Trustee for the Basketball Hall of Fame.

He was a successful high school basketball coach at Hamden Hall in Connecticut and Pine Crest High School in Florida. His teams won multiple championships and he coached multiple NBA players.

He is the Chairman of the Acorn Group, a real estate management and investment company in New Haven, Connecticut.
