In this episode, Mike talks about false promises. Many marketing companies will promise you amazing results for a low price. Ask yourself, how much time and care would you be willing to put into something for $249 a month? When you go this route, you will inevitably end up with generic content that doesn't stand out and may even negatively impact your brand.

These companies that guarantee first page rankings. They're promising you the stars in the moon. And here's the thing. The reason why they work is because a lot of people want to believe it. They purchase their products and services and they almost view it like a utility bill.

00;00;49;12 - 00;01;12;04 Michael Stearns Right. And say, I've got I've got my CEO and my social media taken care of. It's only 249 bucks a month. Most time it's an abysmal fail. There's absolutely no traction as a result of this style of marketing because there's not much being done. You know, it's some it's a few stock photos here and there. It's it's two sentences or 13 syllables of content on your social media twice a week.

00;01;12;07 - 00;01;32;25 Michael Stearns Nothing that's going to do anything meaningful as far as impacting your business. And quite honestly, it might hurt more than it helps. Like if somebody pulls up your Facebook and there's a bullshit stock image, you know, saying, we're the premier roofing contractor of fill in the blank call today that doesn't really show that you care. It doesn't build the rapport, establish credibility and trust.

00;01;32;27 - 00;02;01;10 Michael Stearns You're much better off developing like a systematic approach internally, using third party resources to make postings, scheduling, cross posting easier. The point of this is don't buy into the dream. Don't take the bait. If somebody is telling you they're going to change your company for $250 a month, they're most likely not being forthright with you. And you should certainly be very skeptical and apprehensive about that type of situation if you are considering making this decision.
