The Job Is to Be Curious, Not Judgmental
Manage episode 413867531 series 3554348
What’s needed in the industry is for more men and women to become problem solvers. This is a learned mindset—which a lot of foremen believe they were born with. In this episode, Nic and Tarina share what they learned growing up, whether chopping cotton, babysitting, or waxing tractors. Hustle, drive, and work ethic were taught, and encouraged, from an early age. It’s this lived experience which deserves more appreciation.
Good foremen recognize that for many of the people they lead, this is their first real job. And they choose to lead as they were led in their first jobs. Good foremen see the men and women on their crew as valuable not for what they already know, but for their ability to learn and grow. It’s the difference between being curious versus judgmental. Good foremen decide to look for and invest in people’s potential.
