Hello, Red and Blue fans, we’ve missed you! There’s been plenty of action in the soccer world, so hopefully you’ve missed us as well, because we’re ready to jump in and tackle it all.

Chelsea’s woes have continued and perhaps gotten worse. What was surely expected to be a showdown between 2 clubs fighting for multiple trophies ultimately became a limp reflection of the sad season parallels between Chelsea and Liverpool, as the game finished 0-0. Since then, Chelsea has lost to Wolves, Madrid twice in the CL, and Brighton. A home tilt against mid-table Brentford closes out April before 6 May dates. Chelsea is in no danger of the drop, but the run-in will go a long way toward showing who wants to stay and fight. Arsenal, City, United, and Newcastle likely won’t make that an easy prospect.

Manchester United has 8 more league games and 1 Cup final to finish out their season. The implosion away to Sevilla in the Europa was surprising yet not altogether unexpected. While results have largely continued to go their way, performances have been underwhelming. And the fear that injuries and tired legs (and minds) are finally taking a toll. Their next match is against a team trying to reel them in, but Spurs aren’t setting the world alight themselves. Workmanlike, professional performances and results may get them across the line – they are somewhat comfortable in 4th with 5 points and multiple games in hand – but their final game of the season will come in a Manchester Derby for the FA Cup. Workmanlike will probably not cut it against City, so United need to find some inspiration (and energy).

The USMNT played Mexico in what was really a B squads scrimmage. 1-1 was… fine. Not much was learned, and few if any of that team will likely return for the real deal showdown in the CONCACAF Nations League and subsequent Gold Cup matches. Oh, and we appear to be no closer to having a new (or same) manager.

We’ll be discussing all that, and probably talking about today’s matches (especially a certain, possibly, maybe title decider?!). Who knows?!
