In this inspiring two part episode of the dripdrop podcast, Ed Crasnick chats with special guest and Life Expert Mike Shoreman, the Unbalanced Paddleboarder.

In 2018 Mike Shoreman lost his mobility and all sense of balance due to a neurological disorder, Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, and was told that he would never paddle again. His whole world changed. He was challenged mentally, emotionally and physically.

Spoiler Alert : After almost a year of physiotherapy and retraining his brain to walk again, he stood up. And this summer he’s crossing all 5 Great Lakes on a paddle board in support of Canada's #1 Youth Mental Health Organisation Jack.org.

This is the first time it’s been attempted since 1988 and the first time it will be done by a person with a disability.

In Part 1, Mike Shoreman openly and candidly talks about:

  • His experience and what it was like to lose mobility, and how he overcame it;
  • The weight of both mental and physical challenges;
  • How his thinking has changed and how he handles down moments, depression and set-backs differently;
  • Paddles Up, A global Movement.
