Peter A. Law joins Sports ‘N Torts for Season 4 Episode 3. Pete is the senior principal of Law & Moran a 5 lawyer trial firm dedicated to the representation of individuals who have suffered injuries and death due to the negligence of others. Pete has been recognized by various independent surveys as one of Georgia's top trial lawyers, and has been selected as Georgia's Top Lawyer with multi-year number 1 selections (top vote getter of all lawyers, all categories).

His firm's recoveries approach $1.5 billion worth of jury verdicts and settlements. Pete has been counsel for the Plaintiff in approximately 200 recoveries each exceeding one million dollars ($1,000,000.00), including more than 45 separate recoveries exceeding five million dollars ($5,000,000.00), more than 85 separate recoveries exceeding three million dollars ($3,000,000.00). Pete has been called “the Million Dollar Man” by the Fulton County Daily Report.

All of that is to say that when Pete talks about injury cases and trying cases, those of us in this industry listen. While Pete regularly does CLE presentations, this is the first podcast he has done and you are not going to want to miss this one. During this great conversation we discuss:

-the story that led him to becoming lawyer

-what brought him to Atlanta

-decision to start trying cases and how he got good at it

-his advice to those wanting to become a great trial lawyer

-career as a defense lawyer

-opening and building his firm and his view on marketing and social media

-mentoring young lawyers

-changes in the practice of law over the years

-taking cases apart and putting them back together like a piece of machinery

-building demonstrative aid evidence for use at trial (story of building a mechanical room to show the jury how an explosion happened)

-making adjustments to trial presentations on the fly

-trying cases to rural juries

-simple, straight forward and speedy trial presentations

-how he views “the ask” for amount of verdict

-voir dire- his favorite part of trial

-protecting big verdicts from an appeal

-motivation to continue trying big cases and doing the work

And of course between his connections to Florida State, Texas and Notre Dame we talk the 2024 college football season.

This episode also features our colleague, Chris Gunnels. Chris provides great insight on trial work and, as an Alabama fan, gives his thoughts on the upcoming season as well.
