A chance encounter with a magical fellow named Music (yes, his name really is Music; he is not an allegory, literary theorists out there) prompts Matt to turn on the recorder on his ancient iPhone and, together with Romel, lay out some thoughts about the band and the direction that the now seven-year-long project called "imo" is taking. In this episode: Matt turns on the recorder and talks about wanting to do a podcast, while recording a podcast. Talk about developments: Name change, where the bandmates are now. Shoutouts to old fans, while Romel puts over another band, Sex Karate Matt talks about meeting Music, and Romel justifies his silence as to what "imo" is, after which Romel goes ahead and explains to his best ability what "imo" is to people listening to this podcast. Also, is imo invented or discovered? Also, imo as a cognitive dissonance. Matt recognizes how Ryan left his comfort zone and took up ther bass based on his faith in imo. Old fans getting new albums and working on a new EP called The Joy of Swimming. Cross-cultural tensions concerning lyrics being included in albums. Matt expounding on his over a decade long experience with emo and how emo has changed over the years. Calvin: the cover song machine, and having fun and hanging out vs. actually being productive as a band. Kickstarters, and having the audacity but not the equipment. The Friendzone EP and the advantages of concept albums, and why the concept of the friendzone belongs in an album. Matt's ultimate friendzone saga. Dredging up "Stood Up", our most emo song, and making it available for fans. Also, why escape into imo? Matt just wants to connect with other people. I hope we never get too successful. Why? (Hint: Faces in the crowd.) Challenges moving forward, and Romel continues on an arrogant streak by comparing the band to late-era post-touring Beatles. "...an excuse to hang out with friends." How to meet Gunshy Patriots. Length: 44:49. Feel free to take breaks.
