Life gets busy. When our aging loved ones are slowing down, it can be challenging to dial back our pace to be present with them.

The same is true when a spouse or friend becomes ill, or with our children, and especially with our parents – the folks that were yelling at us to hurry up when we were younger. Our minds might not be able to grasp what is happening when their bodies and minds are losing functionality.

One thing that is super important is to meet them where they are, support them without taking over for them, and celebrate what they are able to do.

They still have things that bring them joy and fulfillment. They just need a little assistance with the activities they like to do. But this doesn't mean they need us to do everything for them. If we do, we take away their autonomy and sense of accomplishment.

As hard as it might be when our time is limited, it helps if we can resist the desire to take over and do for them the things they still want to be able to do - even if we can do it better or faster or with the latest tools and technology that is going to make it super cool.

They still have value and capability, and if we can slow down and have patience with them, we can learn a lot from them – which helps them feel they are still valued as well.

In this Meditation & Healing Circle, we are working with our patience – slowing down our energy during the times we spend together. We open our hearts to see wisdom, beauty, and lessons in the old ways that may seem obsolete. We embrace the value in accepting and appreciating our elders and all the wisdom they have gained in their lives.

By the way, Happy Father’s Day! This is the 3rd in a series of Blessings and Lessons from Living with My Father - keys to help us in our relationships with our parents, honoring our elderly, and in our personal growth.

You're invited to join us LIVE for The Meditation & Healing Circle - every Sunday at 10am US ET / 7am US PT. When you join live, you can stay on after the recorded meditation for Q&A, support and discussion. https://CommunityforConsciousLiving.com
