Here's something you don't always think about - sin is often expressed nicely. There are millions of people who express their sin in nice person ways. They might be really involved in church, they might give a lot of time, effort, and money within the community. They might be sweet, polite, kind, even moral. But inwardly they are still rejecting Jesus on a daily basis.
There is no earning salvation. It comes only through the faith of Jesus Christ.
