SQ3R reading method emphasizes active reading. It is intended that students first skim a text before responding to questions as they read it. By doing this, they actively involve their brain in the process, which significantly enhances their ability to understand the material. Students then recite their responses aloud while writing them down. This makes it possible for the thoughts and concepts to stick and be stored in their long-term memory for subsequent recollection.
