Have you been wondering how to make the big pivot to virtual events? Are you a complete newbie when it comes to event technology and the virtual event world? As we speak with guest speakers and discuss our own experiences with the virtual and hybrid event industry, we will be going through the challenges you may face along the way and how to overcome these.

With the current situation, the rise and requirement for virtual and hybrid events are definitely on the rise - have you made the move yet? Listen to our live podcast every week on our Facebook page, or you can listen to the podcast version to find out how you can make your online events simple.

In this episode, we’re joined with Lou Nylander, Global Marketing Director at Unruly. Lou has been a major player in London's online advertising scene for the past 14 years, holding down influential positions, and shaping the course of the world's leading digital advertising companies including PubMatic, MediaCom, AOL/Huffington Post and Zenith. In the last two years at Unruly, Louise has positioned the company as a programmatic first vendor, conducted deep dive competitive analysis to help steer Unruly positioning, led the company's infamous Trust Talk events, and she has helped Unruly win over 25 awards during her tenure. Alongside leading the Global Marketing team at Unruly, Louise runs 'Wildflowers of London', a social enterprise focused on empowering women in South-East London, of which she is the founder. Across everything she does, she fosters an inclusive culture, champions women, drives change and leads from the front with a positive and inspiring attitude.

Lou discusses how the pandemic affected the team at Unruly and how they adjusted their marketing strategy to keep their audience engaged. It was really interesting to hear how Unruly found pivoting to virtual events and what advice Lou gave for event organisers. As 2020 has been difficult keeping clients and audiences engaged, it was really fascinating to hear the approach that Unruly took when it came to Christmas time and wanting to treat their clients.

EventMind does not endorse any particular virtual event platform or software. We review the platforms available on the market monthly (through a combination of client feedback, test events and demos). There’s no platform which is an ‘all in one’ or ‘all inclusive’ solution when it comes to virtual event platforms. Bear in mind, most virtual event platforms were originally live event apps or software. Covid19 accelerated many platforms to pivot into creating virtual event solutions. In the long run, this seems to be a smart move as hybrid events are likely to become standard (especially if you understand how to monetize hybrid events and maximise global audience reach).
