March 2021 Theme Park News:
• Super Nintendo World at universal studios japan officially opened on March 18th. • universal Orlando officially resumed work in their up coming Epic Universe theme park • They also have extended their current Mardi Gras festival by two weeks through April 11. • They also announced that Halloween Horror Nights will return this year for 42 nights, and announced the return of Beetlejuice as their first house. • WDW have allowed for mobile phones to be used in the same way as magic bands with their new MagicMobile system. It essentially streamlines the use of phones by allowing them to be tapped rather than requiring a code be scanned. • Epcot started the flower and garden festival and also announced they are opens Remy's Ratatouille Adventure ride in the expanded France pavilion on October 1st. • Walt Disney Imagineering have shared more details of the upcoming retheming of the Jungle Cruise, with news being that we it will be tied to the Society of Explorers and Adventures through Alberta Falls, the current owner of the Jungle navigation Co. which was founded by her grandfather. It also has been rumoured that a Disney+ show is in the works based on SEA. • Disneyland's 'A Touch of Disney' Event Sold out within hours at the start of the month, and then kicked off on March 18th. • Universal Hollywood opened for its own food festival Taste of Universal • Disneyland Resort also started a campaign to remove its current zoning restrictions with its press release about the Disneyland Forward plan. The plan had hypothetical concept art with it that showed ways it may be able to expand if the rules changed. • Tokyo Disney is bringing back live theatre, which means it can also finally open its pandemic-delayed Fantasyland Forest Theatre with the premiere of Mickey’s Magical Music World. The theatre is the last part of their recent Tokyo Disneyland Expansion. • The theme parks of the Disneyland Paris Resort will not reopen on April 2 as planned having moved their reopening date for the 3rd time. • Alton Towers in the UK have announced a new attraction, Gangsta Granny: The Ride. The dark ride will bring to life the children's book by David Walliams and is planned to open May 17th depending on Covid Restrictions. • Merlin Entertainments has announced they are going to be building their 4th Park in Europe, with a site selected in Belgium.
