Communion remembers Jesus is our Passover Lamb

(This message covers 1st Corinthians 11:23 – 33)

The reason Easter is tied to Passover on the calendar is because the “Original LORD’s Supper” (Luke 22:14-20) occurred during Passover. In fact the last part of 1st Corinthians 5 verse 7 it says: “…Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.”

Unlike the Passover Seder the Christian practice of remembering the body and Blood of Christ known as communion is practiced year round in some churches during every service.

The word that is translated Communion in the Bible is the word is the same word that is also translated fellowship: “koinonia”. This word is more adequately translated is an intimate close gathering of saints that deeply care for each other exhibiting the embodiment and proof of fellowship.

Like so many Christian sacraments never intended to be a rote religious ceremony but meant to have substantial, personal, interactive meaning. This is a time to examine ourselves: This is not just a meal, it is the Christian Sedar. Unlike deliverance from the bitter bondage of Egyptians that happened at one period of time, Christ’s Atonement for our sin is ongoing.

Because we believe, we appreciate what Christ has done for us.
That is:

What God has forgiven us from, in our past.

How we feel right now about what we are doing in the present.

That He is powerful enough to deliver us from temptations in our future.

The price of our sin WAS IS and SHALL BE paid for if we want it to be.
