Lorraine left a successful long-term career in the corporate and nonprofit world to create the solution she and families like hers needed.
You see Lorraine is living with MS and has 2 children with muscular dystrophy, MD. So it was a challenge, and let's be honest, a stress on her husband, for them to find the right place to stay when traveling.
She bought a second home and made it wheelchair friendly. Then when they weren't using it they put it out as a short-term rental. She had people drive from Texas to NC because there is such a need.
That was the spark.
She is going to be the Expedia Group/VRBO for special needs accommodation.
And she is growing like gang busters.
The growth of Becoming rentABLE in just 2 years has been staggering, during this time Lorraine’s teams' accomplishments include:
Having over 1200 accessible short-term, rental properties on their listing map, which makes them have more accessible short-term, rental listings than Air BnB and VRBO combined.

In August, International Hospitality Media Limited out of the UK listed Lorraine Woodward and Becoming rentABLE in the top 20 influencers across travel, hospitality, and real estate.
The team has built the first and only fully accessible short-term rental property for individuals with mobility, vision, hearing, and/or Autism/IDD in the United States.
Becoming rentABLE is 1 of 12 startups selected for Expedia Group's new Open World Accelerator program. Each startup has created technology to improve accessibility for underserved travelers.
