Ep 64 - Making Music from the Heart and Taylor Swift with Alex Condoluci
Manage episode 415301322 series 3560694
Hey folks! How about this recent run of guest episodes? If I'm being honest my goal for the podcast is to have most episodes feature guests, as I find that format far more interesting than my rambling monologues. Now that I am married and my life makes a bit more sense....the guest episodes are back on the menu!
Anyways, I finally got Alex back on the pod. Of course he was my first guest and is one of my closest musician friends. As a (primarily) guitar player I tend to find fascination in the other guitarists who have a style quite different from my own. Between his unconventional tunings and fascinating phrasing on the fretboard I am constantly learning from and am in awe of Alex's abilities on the instrument.
This time around we talked about the importance of making music for the purpose of personal expression, rather than the pursuit of fame, money, and whatever other mythical benefits that people think they will find in a music career. We also discussed the joy of collaborating with other creatives, the importance of saying "yes" to your own creative ideas, talent vs. practice, and the INSANE popularity of Taylor Swift's multi-decade career. There may even be a Hot Take on the way...
Alex is currently working on new music, but we are keeping the details a bit secretive at this time. For now, check out his Instagram @condi543 where he has a plethora of guitar-related videos.
