The bhut jolokia, also known as the ghost pepper, is a hybrid chili pepper (not unlike the Toyota Prius) cultivated in the Indian state of Nagaland… And it will certainly burn your Nagal!

The Guinness World Records certified the ghost pepper as the world’s hottest chili pepper; 400 times hotter than Tabasco sauce! Ouch! Today, on Hot Sauce Day we honor Wilbur Scoville’s 151st birthday by snacking on one with tortilla chips!

The ghost chili is rated at more than 1 million Scoville heat units (SHUs). “I’m not sure about SHUs, however, that SHU was HOT!

Why is a Ghost Pepper called a Ghost Pepper? “I’m not exactly sure” said Justin. “But I’ll tell you one thing, my face turned white as a ghost!”
