Today’s Headlines: Vice President Kamala Harris is poised to become the Democratic nominee, with endorsements from key figures such as Nancy Pelosi, the Progressive Caucus PAC, and Governors JB Pritzker and Gretchen Whitmer. Harris has secured widespread support and significant delegate backing, with $240 million raised since President Biden's withdrawal. The Democratic National Committee will formally select the nominee before August 7th, and Harris's vice-presidential pick is still pending. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle faced bipartisan scrutiny from the House Oversight Committee over security failures leading to the assassination attempt on Donald Trump. Cheatle declined to answer many questions, prompting calls for her resignation.
