The Philadelphia Phillies will have to wait at least another day to clinch the NL East as they took a hard 6-3 loss to the Mets Saturday night. The Mets now lead their 4-game series with the Phils 2 games to 1.

Ranger Suarez started for the Phillies and struggled through 5 innings of work allowing 5 hits and issuing 3 walks. The only runs he allowed however where both by way of the long ball as he surrendered two solo home runs. One to Francisco Alvarez and another to LouisAngel Acuna. Both came in the 2nd inning. He threw 91 pitches over his start.

The Phillies bats and bullpen were the bigger issue in the loss. After a 12-run output in game 2 of this series, their bats only tallied 4 hits in the game, two of witch were homers. Kyle Schwarber hit his 15th lead off homer of the season and 36th overall. Then Nick Castellanos tied things up at 2 with a solo homer in the 5th. Casty’s 22nd homer of the season.

Orion Kerkering took the ball in the 7th and gave up 3 runs on 2 hits, a walk and a hit batsman. It was the first time since August 15th the Phillies reliever allowed an earned run in an inning and the first time since August 8th he allowed 2 earned runs in an inning.
