Jim Harbaugh Returning to Michigan Football Opener as Honorary Captain

Former Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh is returning to Ann Arbor for the Wolverines season opener August 31st vs Fresno State and he will be the Honorary Captain. In fact, Harbaugh and many of his former players from the 15-0 national champions will be in attendance.

The announcement for the Jim Harbaugh honor comes days after the NCAA bestowed a show-cause penalty for his alleged involvement in BurgerGate, where he met with recruits for lunch during the Covid pandemic. The NCAA feels Harbaugh has not been truthful or helpful during their investigation and has made it impossible for Harbaugh to coach college football until 2028. He should be fine because he has an $80 million dollar contract to coach the Los Angeles Chargers for the foreseeable future.
