In this profoundly important conversation, Liz is joined by David Hoffbrand, author of The Jewish Jesus. It is vital for us to come to a deeper understanding of Jesus as a Jewish man. As David says, the Jewish Jesus is the only Jesus! After all, this is how the early Church knew and understood Him, and even in Revelation, Jesus is still identified as the Lion of Judah. The Jewish identity and culture is of huge significance to our Lord, not just in who He was but who He is. So the more we understand the Hebrew culture and heritage, the more we understand His heart. We read the Scriptures differently when we have this lens.

At the Mount of Transfiguration, we read about Moses and Elijah meeting with Jesus. This was not a New Testament vs. Old Testament conversation! The early church didn’t have this concept. In the Hebrew mind, Moses represents Torah, and Elijah represents the prophets. It shows the unity of the whole Scriptures, and Jesus being the fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets. David highlights that when Jesus was on the earth, the people often struggled to get past His humanity and see His divinity, but in today’s world we have the opposite struggle. We have so focused on His divinity, yet don’t grasp His humanity as easily. Whether this is a new area for you to explore or not, draw near today into this invitation to know the humanity of Yeshua.
