In this article – “Government initiatives accelerate new investments in energy transition across Western Canada" - we review the accelerated push over the past year towards energy transition and a net-zero future; the growth of such industries as CCUs, blue hydrogen and net-zero power generation; the federal government’s Emissions Reduction Plan 2030; the government’s funding commitment to its Low Carbon Economy Fund; the $8 billion Net Zero Accelerator Fund; the new Clean Fuel Standard; the federal budget’s investment tax credits related to energy transition; the Alberta government’s work towards finalizing the regulatory regime for both geothermal and critical mineral resources; and B.C.’s new emissions reduction legislation.
