Nathan received an A.B.O. incompatible kidney transplant from his father, Michael in 2009 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. The incompatible program at Cedars allows people who are not blood compatible to successfully receive kidney transplants. He was the 16th person in Cedars history to receive the transplant.

Biography

Nathan Gutierrez, Founder and CEO of Wheel Life Enterprises, was born with Spina Bifida, uses a manual wheelchair for his daily mobility needs, and has never let his physical disability stop him from what he sets out to accomplish.

The first born of two kids, Nathan was always encouraged to be as independent as possible, including getting a higher education so he could be independent. He played wheelchair basketball as a child into his early adult years, learned how to drive, graduated with a degree in Business and has worked in the private, nonprofit and public sectors. He has also coached high school boys and girls basketball

While in college, Nathan experienced a chronic illness that was soon diagnosed as kidney failure. After three years of dialysis treatments, Nathan had a successful kidney transplant, with his father as his living donor. He would finish his degree in business after returning to school.

Nathan is a 2-time TEDx speaker, and has been a paid professional speaker. He loves helping people who have overcome personal adversities to develop a plan so that they can live with purpose and freedom.
