Conservatives are perceived to be at a disadvantage when it comes to social justice. We simply must get better at thinking and talking about it. And we have a lot to offer. Liberal progressivism is very flawed in its perceptions of social justice, and its policy prescriptions are often disastrous. It is no accident that after nearly a decade of the left's ascendancy, American society is bitterly divided and increasingly convinced that social institutions have been hijacked to enrich a few favored groups with both money and power. Social justice is a goal that challenges every generation. It is never achieved completely, but we must keep trying. The holidays provide a wonderful opportunity to ponder this transcendent ideal of our Judeo-Christian heritage.
