169: Keeping A Healthy Emotional Boundary
Manage episode 371018522 series 2894888
Is it your responsibility to help your employees and coworkers solve their problems?
If you try to focus on your work instead of the emotions of those around you, does that make you a bad person?
With the amount of layoffs and other negative things happening on a broader scale right now, emotions are high. While that’s understandable, it can also lead to confusion about how leaders in an organization are supposed to handle these emotionally charged moments. For some, the preferred route might be to ignore the emotions of their coworkers or employees and focus on the work to be done. For others, it might be to lend an empathetic ear while putting the work to be done on the back burner.
In this episode, we’re discussing what your responsibility is when someone you work with is experiencing strong enough emotions that it’s interfering with their capacity to get work done.
