Episode 550: Celebrities Standing Their Ground
Manage episode 386023600 series 2281817
This week, the Idiots begin by discussing… another comedian.
Matt Rife found controversy this past week, as people took umbrage with the opening joke of his recent Netflix special.
Why?
Oddly enough, the outrage was over the fact that the joke in question involved domestic violence. Why wasn’t anyone upset that it was basically a stock joke, something that’s been around forever?
Come on, Netflix. You need to air original content.
That said, when called upon to defend his actions and/or apologize, Rife didn’t back down, he doubled down.
And good on him.
Speaking of cancel culture, the shoe is on the other foot for Susan Sarandon and Scream VI actress Melissa Barrera lost work because of their words.
(Or, in Melissa’s place, her Tweets.)
The woke left is turning on itself; becoming an ouroboros and eating itself. When angry over things the right wing says? That’s justified! But unless you’re pure these days, you find yourself cast out of the cool kids circle.
Also: it’s 2023, is your school district still so stupid it doesn’t realize it’ll go viral if it attacks a marginalized group? Well, Kansas didn’t get the memo, because they made an indigenous boy cut his hair. Why? Too much time on their hands or something gender something something.
Basically, stupid reasons.
But, now the boy’ll get paid, and it’ll be the Kansas tax dollars doing the paying.
Finally: House speaker Mike Johnson hates the gay community.
Does that make him gay?
Jake has thoughts.
Idiots on Parade: we mock the news, so you don’t have to.
Tune in and get your giggle on.
