What are your (atoms) and (bits)?
Thank you for calling GIH where we instigate growth one call at a time where we utilize antiquated technology to deliver 3-minute leadership lessons every week day! This is message #138 and I am Aaron Havens.
In the book “Blitzscaling” authors Reid Hoffman and Chris Yeh talks about atoms and bits. If you are an entrepreneur looking to looking to build massively valuable companies lightening fast… this book is for you. In their chapter about atoms and bits they highlight the importance in creating ATOMS… things we touch, yet BITS are where the true money comes in. How can you take something that you build once (a Tesla car) and numerous times a year push out software updates for free or at cost. I mean, I can buy a Tesla, and then one night after eating too many chips and salsa wake up with indigestion and suddenly feel the urge to update the software on my car to make it drive even faster. With a push of a button ATOMS are controlled by BITS and Tesla has a continuation of cash flow and have the ability to BLITZSCALE at neck breaking speeds. No need to buy a new car, when you can just download new software on the existing one.
Oh my friends. We may not be Elon Musk… we can though digest this concept. Where in my life am I creating and re-creating and re-creating the same thing over and over again? Maybe this is where I’m stuck on a hamster wheel and need to jump off and consider my course of action. Where can you and I build something good, and then add to it or enhance it along the way to keep it fresh. No need to just build the same thing over and over again.
I know it’s kind of a vague question. What are your ATOMS and what are your BITS? Here’s another example. I record each Growth Instigator Hotline topic once.. well sometimes it’s multiple attempts… however the point is I record it once. Then the power of technology can take it from there. Now literally people on the other side of the world are listening to it and sharing it with their friends and family. And now, organizations are asking if I can do teaching modules or seminars on topics that I created once. Yep. Crazy huh.
Where, with a little bit of creativity can you create ATOMS and then build off of, update and enhance the original with BITS?
Thanks for calling in today. Tune in tomorrow for a fresh new topic. At the sound of the beep… what are your ATOMS. What are your bits?
