Jane speaks with DeAnne Connolly Graham who is the first black woman to Chair the Miami Beach Chamber's Women's Business Council. DeAnne tells us about growing up in Connecticut and the challenges she faced with being mixed-race within the black community. DeAnne also shares with us the ugliness of being abandoned by family and friends after getting pregnant as a young female and left to fin for herself with a non-deserving partner. Fighting her way out of that spiraling downward relationship she takes her young child and flees to Florida where she learns to stand on her own two feet and flourish. DeAnne now describes herself as a being a servant leader and what it takes to be in that space. She also talks about her battle with stage four breast cancer and living through the harsh treatments. All the while remaining a true champion and advocate for women and youth educational advancement a Servant Leader.
