Don’t You Know Who I Am?
Manage series 3599509
I started thereputationID after I needed to make my boss see me.
I was in a meeting for a performance review when I realised that my manager viewed 1% of my potential or achievements.
For a manager of a team with 10 people, who was drowning in meetings and catch-ups, the time allocated to see how I performed was inexistent.
And I used to be the one believing that 'the results speak for themselves'. Well, I can speak, too.
Because I realised that I need to take the matter in my own hands and show him my value: I needed to get on his radar, to get his attention, dazzle him with my results and to do it subtly. After all, we are in a professional environment.
So, I read some books on #personalbranding . I applied all those (boring) exercises and in less than a month, my manager came to me and apologised for the rushed review.
I got more interesting projects, more responsibilities. My manager went out of his way to find me a promotion. He wanted me to send me to a different country where there was an opening, just to promote me.
Fair play to him. He wasn't against me. He didn't hate me. He just didn't have the time to notice me.
And I created this podcast because there are so many topics to cover.
I want to share my expertise and also to connect with like-minded people.
Each podcast episode is meant to put a question in your mind: should I do this as well? Does this apply to me?
Because we like to think that we are unique. And we are, sort of. But we also are very similar. And I want us to connect. To learn from one another. To grow.
At the moment I am very tiny, a noname. Which is why my podcasts don't have guests. I hope one day I will get to the point where people will join me for a two way chat.
But until then, I will use my view to share what I think on different topics, and I want your view as well.
So let's connect, as I don't want to feel alone in this.
I'm happy to know what you think about the episodes, do you have any suggestions?
