E28 - Lessons from a marathon on Goals and Complacency.
Manage episode 311970282 series 3207367
I had set a goal for myself in 2016 to complete a marathon. Not being a runner, the idea of running 26.2 miles truly scared me, however I had made up my mind and signed up for it and there was no going back at this point. Below you will find some key takeaways that can be applied to any goal that you might have as I breakdown the journey of #goalsetting, #goalachievement and #complacency.
1.Set a goal and commit
The idea of wanting to run a marathon had been on my mind for a while and every year I kept talking about but did not commit to taking action. I had done research, had narrowed it down to three marathons, had the dates but never took that leap of faith to sign up for it, because my reasons for not being able to do it muffled that voice inside me that wanted to do it. In January of 2016, I finally made the commitment and signed up for the Via Marathon, in Lehigh Valley, PA that was to take place on September 11th, 2016.
