The Carganilla Online Variety Entertainment Podcast is a weekly program in which host Paul Carganilla aims to both entertain and inspire podcast listeners and YouTube viewers through a variety of offerings, including: music, poetry, storytelling, special guest interviews, travel blogs, and more...
This episode of COVE Podcast falls on the five-year anniversary of the Borderline Bar & Grill mass shooting in Thousand Oaks, California. In remembrance and honor of all victims and survivors, we will take a look back at that tragic evening, when the joyful sounds of country music and laughter were replaced with chaos and terror. Host Paul Carganilla is joined by three courageous survivors - Alexis Tait, Emily Marostica, and Kristal Lynn Konzen - who share their poignant accounts of the tragic incident and their journey of resilience and healing in its aftermath.
Their stories take us back to that night, immersing us in their world which rapidly shifted from the joy of line dancing and camaraderie to the core-shaking fear that accompanied the gunshots. Each account is a testament to human strength and the indomitable will to survive. As we reflect, Alexis, Emily, and Kristal Lynn share how they've managed to find solace and purpose in the aftermath of the tragedy, through the support of their community and mental health advocacy.
In the final segment of this episode, we remember the lives that were tragically cut short that night. We celebrate their unique sparks and continue to mourn the loss of:
Sergeant Ron Helus, Sean Adler, Cody Coffman, Blake Dingman, Jake Dunham, Alaina Housley, Daniel Manrique, Justin Meek, Telemachus Orfanos, Noel Sparks, Mark Meza, and Kristina Morisette. Join us today as we honor the memory of the victims, celebrate the resilience of survivors and family members, reflect on the power of community, and strive to spread love and light to all touched by this tragedy.
