Richard Tashma is a former systems engineer, a fellow member of the Institute of Coaching, anda certified Internal Family Systems coach. In this episode of Coaching Revealed, Richard is interviewed by IOC podcast hosts, Austin Matzelle and Emily Terrani about how he utilizes Internal Family Systems, or IFS as a coach.
Richard initially found coaching on his own journey in personal development, and after discovering IFS through the work of Bessel van der Kolk, Richard realized the impact the practice can have on individuals, largely through the impact it had on his own life.
In this episode, we learn an overview of the IFS model, the various parts and roles they each have in protecting the Self. Richard shares how his personal experiences have led him to a practice which can work deeply with individuals who have experienced deep trauma.
The conversation between Richard, Emily, and Austin helps answer questions about the impact IFS has on individuals and how coaches can incorporateed the IFS perspective into the work they do to support their clients.
