Sunday, June 30, 2024, we continued our study on 2 Peter, focusing on the theme "Everything We Need for Life and Godliness." Our main emphasis is on the significance of establishing a strong foundation rooted in a deep understanding of God that leads to a relationship with God rooted in love. During Peter's time, there was a rise in false teachings propagated by individuals promoting a "secret" knowledge they believed was essential for salvation. This false teaching, known as "Gnosticism," propagated the belief that the physical realm was corrupt while the spiritual realm was pure. From this comes some serious concerns regarding how we deal with sin and temptation regarding how we deal with spiritual matters. Despite containing elements of truth, these teachings were ultimately deceptive and misleading, not aligning with biblical truth but rather derived from the deceit of Satan. What we find is that Gnosticism takes on forms in our beliefs today. That's why we must be on guard. This message serves as a prelude to the upcoming teachings by Peter as we progress through his writings. We invite you to worship and study with us.
