EPISODE 03 --=(] buhbOmp radio [)=-- a wide variety of styles from hip-hop, dancehall, soca, broken beat, Miami/Atlanta bass, and much more, brought to you by the buhbOmp crew: JD, Lil Tiger, Empanadamn, Elz, Cashless and friends.

Our third episode is another remix masterpiece, this one carefully crafted by Houston's J.Knowledge, who sets his mix apart by blending old and new styles and crossing regions while keeping it Hip-Hop from start to finish. More on the mix and the man behind it in J.Knowledge's own words:

"all i ever wanted to do was make dope mixes since about 1994. i credit two things for that, some j.rocc mix i heard for the clothing company drawls (LOL), and my friend philip speer's stereo that would play two tapes at the same time. i would cue up an acapella on one deck, and an instrumental on the other and press play at the same time. you can imagine how budget it sounded but it lit a fire under my ass to want to do this shit.

the j.rocc tape had me wondering how the hell he was mixing more than two sources at the same time. i was amazed by that tape and i guess that's where i draw inspiration from even today, although i lost that tape years ago. my goal has always been to make the dopest mix i could and also i wanted to slap people upside they head like that j.rocc tape did me way back when. i want people to go 'there's no way he did this live!!!!' and it should be pretty obvious it isn't.

equipment used: two 1200s, vestax06, and akai, dps12 (recorder)

there was no computer trickery involved for the making of the mix. i would record something, stop, and then go re-record over it on another track, dropping the record on time with the previous one. for this project you can imagine how crazy it was to mix down, i think i used something like 77 tracks total.

i've been into music my whole life, but i guess i started buying records seriously in '94, and making tapes seriously in about '96. my collection is about 6k at this point but im trying to weed some stuff out."
