This week’s guest Treeva, shares her experiences dealing with the criminal justice system. She spent 125 months incarcerated for defending herself and revealed the inhumane conditions and power abuse within the prison walls. Despite the hardship, Treeva emphasized the importance of persistence, self-motivation, goal-setting, and establishing a healthy routine, even amidst the harshest circumstances.

Upon release, Treeva successfully reintegrated by mending family bonds, navigating towards financial stability, and leveraging her learned skills to give back to the community. She plans to work on starting a non-profit helping uninsured individuals with dental issues. Her story underscores the necessity of an urgent revamp of meticulous systems and the significance of understanding the local elections' impact on the justice system.

Treeva's tale serves as a beacon of hope, pushing for more extensive support and understanding for individuals exiting incarceration. Her journey can inspire a more comprehensive discussion on the dehumanizing aspects of incarceration, pushing every member of society to contribute meaningfully towards creating a more just system.

The Black Light Mass Incarceration Show is a space that is used to uplift the unheard voices of the criminal and social justice issues that many face today.

BLMIS is a weekly podcast that interviews those forgotten in our prison systems. We are here to give the forgotten or ignored a platform for them to share their stories. Inform and educate others on what is really happening behind the scenes.
