How can we grow in godliness? So many Christians through the ages have struggled with this question. Some have pushed the idea that we grow in godliness through severe self discipline. This approach to sanctification leads to self righteousness not godliness. Others believe in a passive “let go and let God” approach to sanctification. This doesn't work either, it created passive hedonists who feel powerless against their sin. So how can we grow in Godliness? Not by passivity or by severe self discipline, but by toiling and striving everyday to know Christ fully, love him deeply and glorify him completely. This will produce a transformed life that is full of joy and distinct from the world.
