Joe and Al actually talk quite a bit of chess for once in this interview with National Master Robert Ramirez. The popular YouTuber and chess coach gives the Average Joes advice on how with the right training and commitment to improve, anyone can get better at chess. Robert details his chess journey and explains what motivated him to create a YouTube channel jam-packed full of comprehensive chess instructional videos. Joe asks for tips to help him get his Rapid Chess rating up from 1800 to 2000 and Robert obliges with tonnes of solid advice. After a highly motivational interview, the Joes are left inspired to work on getting better at chess whilst having fun just playing the game. Joe however, is frustrated as he is serving a one week chess ban challenge, as a result of him being unpleasant to Al. In an attempt to recreate Robert’s home location of Miami, Joe records the introduction to the interview in his sweaty,barely-ventilated loft bedroom/studio on the hottest day of the year. All of this plus Joe and Al add a humourous spin to their recap of their chess week. Average Joes Chess, a podcast made by average chess players....but exceptional lovers.
