Today Deborah breaks down the advice for dealing with different animals you may encounter hiking or camping; wolves, bears, moose, cougars and what to do to prevent disaster. The first best advice is to avoid close encounters Deb shares some very easy ways to do that in today’s show. Did you know that what you do when a bear attacks is totally different from what you should do if a moose charges? Plus, there are safe times and safe places to choose for your adventures and you can learn some very easy to apply tricks for picking the right time and place for hikes and camping.
We all have to pick our battles when it comes to getting along with people and sometimes with our pets too and Deborah has chosen not to battle her dogs over her crock like ‘dawg’ shoes which they repeatedly mistake for dog chew toys! Deborah admits she has made a dog training mistake with Fabio’ the blonde poodle shown here- a mistake she warned her audiences not to make and then went and did it herself; she took pictures and laughed when ‘Fabio’ stole a receipt and now she’ll likely have to ‘pay the price’ with more training to get him to avoid stealing and chewing paper. Wildlife and other dangers like poison are reasons everyone should train their dog to ‘come’ when called and also to ‘drop’ what the dog has in its mouth on command, and ‘leave it’ if told before he grabs the object.
