Sara Tucker is an ordained interfaith minister and spiritual counsellor with an extensive background in mindfulness work and executive coaching. She also enjoys traditional Irish folk singing and is committed to singing at the bedsides of people who are dying. Sara was ordained by One Spirit Interfaith Seminary and has an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. She also has a Bachelor’s in East Asian studies from Yale University. Sara and her husband have three amazing children, all making their way into the world.
Sara joins us to discuss the topic of loss and shares her unique perspectives. By the time we reach our 60s, most of us have undergone some kind of significant loss in our lives, whether that be our kids going off to school or losing a loved one. Job losses, divorces, and breakups are all impactful losses as well. Sara has worked with many people going through life transitions and has helped them reach the other side. One of the most important things is to allow ourselves to feel the hard feelings as we encounter these moments.
Sara shares how she moved through the transition of her son going off to school and exploring the possibility of moving to a new location. We discuss how relocating, even for a short while, can reinvigorate your life without a huge commitment. We also talk about changes that we don’t choose, like divorce or breakups, and how they feel like a death of hopes and dreams. Our conversation also includes discussion around living in the now, how to stay present, Sara’s experience working in hospice care, and more.
What’s Inside:

  • How to handle the transition of children going off to school.
  • The importance of living in the now and acceptance.
  • How to ground yourself and stay present.

Mentioned In This Episode:
Transitions: Making Sense of Life’s Changes by William Bridges
Walking Each Other Home by Mirabai Bush and Ram Dass
The Wild Edge of Sorrow by Francis Weller
