How Vonda Pelto, Ph.D. Ended Up Babysitting Serial Killers & Criminals at LA Men's Central Jail: In 1979 Vonda Pelto had just gotten her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and was in search of a job as she had two young children to support. An opportunity popped up that was to alter her personality and, essentially, change her life forever. In an interview on Thunderstruck Radio, Vonda Pelto, author of Without Remorse: The Story of the Woman Who Kept Los Angeles' Serial Killers Alive, talks about how she got hired by LA health authorities to deal with a bunch of serial killers and other high-profile criminals in order to keep them from harming themselves before or trail. Vonda office was a converted cell in the same area as serial killers William Bonin, Kenneth Bianchi, the Trash Bag Murderer, and others. The most high-profile inmate she dealt with, who was not a serial killer, was the famous porn star John Holmes after he got mixed up with Eddie Nash, who killed four people in the infamous Wonderland Murders in the Hollywood Hills.
