There are people out there who have overcome incredible life setbacks... and then there are people like Stephanie Hathaway who don't just overcome adversity, they conquer it.
A week ago my life was different. I shall now refer to this time period (lasting from birth through the last 29 years and 9 months) as PS, or Pre-Steph, because thats how much a single conversation changed my life.
I'm hoping that the thirteen minutes I was able to procure from my conversation with Steph over a cup of coffee is enough to do justice to this woman's story of survivorship. If one were to discount Steph's diagnosis and battle with breast cancer, her life is still pretty dang impressive and inspiring. World traveling, adventure racing, teaching little kids ABCs and 123s... all while being a part of a movement of women utilizing the outdoors in an ambitious pursuit of positive change.
Having spent a whopping two hours in the presence of this woman, I think I can say with some certainty that Stephanie is the kind of person who is the life of the party. She most likely see's things not just in a glass half-full kind of way, but in a, this sucka is overflowing with awesomeness kind of way. She exudes positive energy and has a smile that radiates with kindness, joy, and a hint of overcoming unimaginable loss with her spirit still intact.
Steph represents everything Roam Rydes is all about...and we are absolutely thrilled to share her story.

***SPOILER ALERT*** & PODCAST AMENDMENT
I was informed that Gianna passed away February 28th 2014, not March 1st as I reported. Technically it was March 1st in Nepal, so Stephanie is lucky enough to have two days to honor Gianna.
