DAW Evolution IX : Reaper - Revisited ! Hosted by Vin Curigliano of AAVIM Technology, I am joined by guest co-hosts Pete Brown of Microsoft and Erin McKimm, and returning special guest Justin Frankel, who is the Founder and Lead Developer of Reaper. We catch up after 5 years since the last show , with a general overview of whats been happening since we last spoke in Music Tech/Reaperland. We discuss the milestone releases since the last show, covering V5-V7 which saw over 100 updates during that time , and the ongoing company culture and philosophy towards development, licensing and support. We take a deep technical dive into the finer details and methodology of the Anticipative FX processing engine, and how it differs to other extended buffering schemes on other DAW’s. We cover the ongoing challenges of navigating cross platform, complex multithreading and serial processing routines with the current asymmetric CPU architectures, and the respective O.S's. We cover some emerging technologies and weigh up the Pro's and Con's of integration and development in those areas, discuss 3d party and community involvement in advancing and expanding future features, as well as muse about the current evolving Music Tech landscape, and much much more.
