In this episode of Afterhours, we begin by sharing our thoughts on Rapman’s new Netflix series, Supercell. The show follows a group of seemingly ordinary Black people from South London, unified by a family history of sickle cell disease, who unexpectedly develop superpowers. They discover each other and fend off entrapment by a secret organisation seeking to control them. Next, we discuss popular YouTuber MrBeast, who took his philanthropic efforts to Jamaica, El Salvador, and Argentina to give away 100 homes to families in need. One family living near the top of a mountain in Jamaica was in dire need as the home they were living in was unstable and could have collapsed at any moment. The dilapidated, unstable home was replaced with a brand-new one. The new house came furnished and had a tank for running water and electricity. In the final part, we discuss Bailey Anne Kennedy, who was crowned the new Miss Maryland USA in June. She became the first transgender woman to win the title.
