In the preaching of God's Word last week, much emphasis was placed on the Gospel-exalting qualifications of church deacons, namely being mature in the faith as manifesting in the dignity with which one carries out the functions of his office, as well as having a strong faith and being proven blameless time and again (1 Timothy 3:8-10). Deacons who have served well, as was communicated in the sermon, are those who have a good and well-rounded testimony of their faith in the Gospel to the church and their community, holding its clear truths with an equally clear conscience.
