Shay Colley, the Canada Basketball SWNT standout, pulls up on Canada Hoops! Shay sits down with your boy Matty to share her basketball story. Shay tells Matty about growing up in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and loving basketball from an early age. Shay looked up to her cousin Justine Colley and that’s when Shay started to learn the game. Shay then moved to Brampton, Ontario to pursue basketball further . In Brampton Shay started to really develop her game. From high school championships with the St. Edmund Campion Bears, National Championships with Team Ontario and making the U16 Cadette Team for Canada Basketball, Shay put everyone on notice. Shay then talks about making her college decision and why she chose to attend and play at South Carolina. Shays’ path took her to Michigan State University and Shay reflects on her time at MSU and why she loved being a Spartan. Shay tells us about turning pro and starting her professional career; and why playing in France has been a great place to play.
And you know we get into Canada Basketball with Shay. Shay tells us what playing for Canada means to her and why she’s always willing to suit up for the SWNT. Shay tells us her favourite team she’s been a part of for Canada Basketball and shared who some of her favourite teammates are with the SWNT. Shay then gives us her great Top 5 of all time for Canada Basketball.
